An interactive map reveals the most notable people born in an area
Its probably not how we want to world to see us, but a new interactive map has revealed the most well-known person to have come from our area is Gary Glitter.
The shamed 70s singer, who’s real name is Paul Gadd, is shown as the most famous person to have been born in Banbury.
The map utilises data from Wikipedia and Wikidata and ranks the most notable people in the world over a 5,000-year period.
In the Discovery & Science category the physiologist and biophysicist Alan Hodgkin is named with the town’s current MP Victoria Prentis shown as the most famous in the Leadership category.
The former Northern Irish footballer Kevin Wilson is the town’s most famous sports person.
Brackley’s most famous person is named as Henry Bathurst – the 3rd Earl Bathurst. He was an MP for thirty years around the turn of the 19th century and a personal friend of William Pitt the Younger.
