Alcan played a major part supplying metal for the planes used in the second world war. To avoid the factory being bombed a “dummy Ally” was built at the top of the hill by Great Bourton.
Amazon maintain the Alcan Garden of Remembrance on their Southam Road site, formerly the home to the Alcan factory. Each year a short commemoriative event takes place, starting at 10.45am.
