Half Term Guide

Half term is with us and if you’re hunting for things to keep the kids entertained until they head back to school next week, we are here to help!

This is our handy guide to lots of things happening this week, including arts and crafts sessions, a circus skills workshop, local theatrical performances and the sports hubs.

So avoid that dreaded phrase “I’m bored” and have a look at some great ideas.


Cherwell District Council Activity Hubs

Monday to Friday

Cherwell District Council’s Activity Hubs offer a mix of sports, arts, craft and games for children aged five to 15 years. All sporting activities are delivered by qualified and DBS cleared coaches.  Sessions run at both the North Oxfordshire Academy and The Cooper School in Bicester.   You can make a booking here.


Banbury Museum Arts and Crafts

Monday to Friday

Banbury Museum are organising a number of activities to keep your children entertained. The activities do cost a small amount, but most are open to all children from 4 years upwards. For some activities you may need to book a places. Times and booking details are available here.

Monday 17 February – Clay Creatures
Sculpt an animal, alien or anything you can imagine. See what wonderous things you can create from clay. Messy fun that little ones will love! £4 per child and suitable for ages 4+.

Tuesday 18 February – Rockets!
A fun day using art and engineering skills! Build space rockets pictures, with lots of cutting and sticking your collage rockets will surely fly to the moon. The team from Kineton STEM will be there to show off their rocket cars. £3 per child and suitable for ages 4+.

Wednesday 19 February – Bath Bomb Making
Mix up all the ingredients to with different colours and flavours to make a set of mini bath bombs and decorate a basket to put them. £7 per child and suitable for ages 4+.

Wednesday 19 February – Art Explorers – Chalk & Charcoal
Let your child explore their artistic side with chalk and charcoal. £4 per child and suitable for ages 4+.

Thursday 20 February – Moving Masterpiece
Using Automator starter kits create an artwork that moves when your turn the handle. From rockets and dragon to dancers and dogs, anything goes! £6 per child and suitable for ages 6+.

Thursday 20 February – Art Explorers – Pastels & Finger Paint
Let your child explore their artistic side with pastels & finger paint. £4 per child and suitable for ages 4+.

Friday 21 February – Art Explorers – Collage & Mosaic
Let your child explore their artistic side with collage & mosaic materials. £4 per child and suitable for ages 4+.


Circus Skills Workshop at Castle Quay

Monday

If your youngster is interested in circus skills there’s a free drop in workshop from 10am in Castle Quay shopping centre.

They can learn plate spinning, poi, stilt walking, pedal go, and loads of other fun circus skills. It’s all happening in the unit opposite Tiger.


Fun Station at Marlborough Road Methodist Church

Tuesday

The Fun Station at Marlborough Road Methodist Church from 10am will be offering a baby and toddler area, soft play, crafts, games and a buffet. It’s free to attend and runs until midday.


Cropredy Harlequins present ``George's Marvellous Medicine``

Thursday to Saturday

Cropredy Harlequins have their half term production of “George’s Marvellous Medicine” in Cropredy Village hall from Thursday to Saturday this week.

Performances are at 7.30pm each evening and 2.30pm on Saturday afternoon.    Children love this Roald Dahl favourite.  Tickets are £8 for adults and £4 for children and available by calling 01295 758224.


Bodicote Church Youth Drama Group present ``Spamalot``

Thursday to Saturday

Bodicote Church Youth Drama Group have their latest show running from Thursday to Saturday this week at Bishop Loveday School. SPAMALOT is the adapted stage version of the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

If you fancy a fun and entertaining night and want to “always look on the bright side of life” then get your tickets.   They cost £8 for adults and £5 for concessions and are available here.
