Gunners extend advantage after derby victory

Arsenal now lead the Premier League by eight points after victory at their nearest rivals.

Mikel Arteta’s men beat North London rivals Tottenham 2-0 at their Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris conceded a 14th-minute own goal as the Gunners led on 14 minutes.

Skipper Martin Odegaard then cemented the win with a second strike, nine minutes before half-time.

Newcastle United are up to third, on goal difference, after a 1-0 win, at St James’ Park, over Fulham.

The Magpies’ former striker Aleksander Mitrovic thought he’d put the West London side ahead on the hour, from the penalty spot. However, the spot kick was disallowed after the big frontman accidentally touched the ball twice as he slipped taking the set piece.

Alexander Isak then slammed in the winner for Eddie Howe’s men, with just a minute remaining.

Chelsea finally ended their barren run under Graham Potter with a hard-fought 1-0 success over fellow London side Crystal Palace.

German marksman Kai Havertz netted the only goal of the game, just after the hour, it was just the Blues’ second in ten matches.
