Police seek witnesses following a racially aggravated public order offence
A number of people were subjected to racial abuse in Banbury on Tuesday. A man made the racially aggravated comments and shouted at people in the town centre. Officers from Thames Valley Police are keen to speak to anyone who was affected or witnessed the incident.
One couple in particular were approached by the man who asked them for money. It is believed they may have vital information that could help the police and are described as wearing masks and gloves and were walking with crutches.
Another potential witnesses was a man who changed the direction he was walking seemingly because of the man’s behaviour.
The abuse took place in the Church Lane and High Street area of town between 1.45pm and 2pm.
The offender is described as a black male, around 50 years old, 6ft tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a yellow and orange top.
Investigating officer PC Vince Clenshaw based at Banbury police station, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who has information about this incident. If you saw this happen or you have information which may help, please get in touch. We would specifically like to speak to the people described as they may have more information that could help with this investigation.
