“we would like to help the needy by giving few daily essentials as a token of love on our 7th wedding anniversary”
A Banbury couple have chosen to celebrate their wedding anniversary by buying and donating parcels of fresh food to those in need in their community.
Prabhu Natarajan and his wife Shilpa Balachandran decided to buy food and to give it to those who are currently struggling.
Prabhu and Shilpa moved to the UK from India in March. The couple live in Bretch Hill with their five-year-old son.
To mark their seventh wedding anniversary Prabhu agreed with Shilpa to do something for those in need in the area.
Prabhu spent Saturday morning in Farmfoods and Aldi buying quantities of the daily essentials. He said people were staring at him and a few took his picture. He said, “If anyone saw me, I’m not a panic buyer, I just came to do something good for the community”.
Back at home he put together 15 packets containing daily essentials like fruit juice, soup, noodles, milk, white bread and eggs. Then he used social media to offer these to anyone locally who is currently finding it hard to make ends meet.
Prabhu said: “During this period of lockdown when many of us are struggling to find a source of income and few are isolating, we would like to help the needy by giving few daily essentials as a token of love on our 7th wedding anniversary”.

Initially Prabhu wondered what response he would get but quickly discovered a lot of people were very grateful for his generosity. He said: “Within 40 minutes all of my packets were booked”.
Prabhu offered to deliver the food to people, or they could collect them from his home. He feels acts like this are an important part of life. He said: “Anything can happen at any time. If we help somebody, if we go down God will send someone to help us. I believe strongly in that.“
“My son’s sixth birthday is coming up on January 18th and I am prepared to do something big for the community.
“If anyone needs any help – any kind of help – people can just contact me. I will do my best – whatever I can.”

He is always generous in helping the needy. He has done this for his school, teachers, and old age homes.
