Brackley Town face Tranmere Rovers in FA Cup second round

Brackley’s Manager Kevin Wilkin: “Clearly it’s a massive game”
Brackley Town will face Tranmere Rovers this evening as the Saints look to make history and achieve their best ever position in the FA Cup. Tonight they play for a place in the third round.
It’s a big ask for Brackley as Tranmere reside two steps above them in EFL League Two where they are currently in 9th place.
This is the third time Brackley Town have made it to the FA Cup’s second round, having previously reached this stage in 2013 and 2016. Progression into the third round brings with it the possibility of facing one of the big clubs as teams from the Premier League and Championship enter the competition at that stage.
The game this evening has been drawn as an away match to be played at Tranmere Rovers’ Prenton Park.
The match will be played behind closed doors due to current COVID-19 restrictions but will be shown on BBC2. Kick-off is at 7.55pm.
Speaking to the club’s website Brackley’s Manager Kevin Wilkin said: “Clearly it’s a massive game. Tranmere have turned a corner in the form they have been showing.
“We’re under no illusion we need everything to drop right for us to get through the tie but if we can get one or two players back from injury during the week it makes us stronger and the belief in the group grows that little bit more and can have an effect.
“If we can go there and play as we’re capable of then who knows.”
