New marketing agency emerges from lockdown rethink

“It’s time to think differently” says agency co-founder as pandemic hits marketing budgets
Two mums with young families have decided to set themselves free from a day job so they can set up a marketing agency to help local companies.
Frank & Friend has been setup by Rhian Burrell and Katie Sutton. Having worked on projects for some major brands, at the start of the second lockdown the friends started offering free marketing advice to a handful of local businesses. Rhian said: “It felt like the right thing to do, we know we can make a real difference to local businesses and hopefully it’ll be the start of some long-term partnerships.”
The name Frank and Friend partly links to Rhian and Katie’s personality traits as identified on leadership courses they have attended. They felt this summed up how they viewed their partnership. Rhian said: “We wanted to come across as being ‘frank’ by being straight and honest with you and ‘friend’ because we’ll be your friend and be friendly and approachable.
Katie and Rhian first worked together at an agency in Leamington and over the years have kept in touch. Rhian, who lives in Great Bourton said: “It’s time to think differently. Gone are the days of employing a full-time head every time you’ve got more work to do.
“Marketing is important, it always has been, but is there a more nimble and efficient way of getting that support? Absolutely. We started Frank & Friend with the intention of helping normal, hard-working businesses navigate the changing landscape.”
Rhian and Katie bring over 20 years joint experience of working with brands such as Mercedes Benz, Bayer, Co-operative Childcare and Bibby Financial Services as well as SMEs. Co-founder Katie Sutton said: “We’ve worked with the big brands and we’ve learnt a lot. Now we want to make a difference and do our bit to support local businesses. We bring all of that knowledge and experience to the table and we make it work for the business who otherwise might find it out of reach.”
