Fund raising raffle in memory of Puritans supporter passes £1,000 mark

Banbury United organise raffle to raise money for young family of supporter who lost battle with COVID-19
A fund-raising raffle to help the young family of a Banbury United supporter who lost his battle against COVID-19 has raised £1,000 just days after being launched. Barry Pocock passed away at the end of January at the age of 37.
The raffle has been organised by Banbury United to support Mr Pocock’s wife Claire, and two young daughters, Charlotte and Sophie.
Mr Pocock was a loyal supporter of the Puritans and attended most homes games and many away fixtures as well. He also volunteered as a match day helper.
After contracting COVID-19 Mr Pocock lost his fight with the virus after a four week battle.
Banbury United are offering a number of exciting prizes for the raffle including a “Meet and Greet “ game experience with manager Andy Whing and a “one off” opportunity for two under 18’s to spend an evening helping out at an official Banbury United 1st team training session, meet the players and assist the coaches.
Other prizes include unique items from the Puritans recent 1st Round FA Cup game against Canvey Island. Jack Harding has also donated his signed goalkeeper gloves, as worn throughout the FA Cup games. A number of local companies have also given prizes including vouchers, cash, champagne and more.
Banbury United are asking people to head to their fundraising page and make a donation. Anyone who gives a minimum of £5 will be entered into the draw.
