“Its just a little give-back to say thank-you for everything they’ve been doing”

The community in Kings Sutton has come together to provide some thank you parcels for the staff at the Horton General Hospital and the Ramsay Centre.

The project is the idea of Leanne Lock who lives in the village.   Leanne said: “Its just a little give-back to say thank-you for everything they’ve been doing because they’ve been working tirelessly during the last year.”

Leanne arranged some parcels last year during the first lockdown period.  This year she has decided to expand the project so that she can send in more packages.

Each package will contain some little “thank-you” gifts such as biscuits, coffee, tea, hand cream and pens.

Leanne said: “They are working exceptionally hard in taking care of everybody.   I know a lot of people are also working exceptionally hard, but they are on the front line and what they are doing is amazing.

“Seeing the amount of PPE they have to wear for 10 to 14 hours per day … it must be so difficult for any individual to be wearing a face mask for that amount of time.   I couldn’t do that.

“They’re constantly using anti-bacterial hand gel and sanitiser.   I thought the hand creams in the pack are a really nice way to give back as their hands must be so sore after a shift.”

Leanne heard from a friend that the staff needed pens as quite often they would put them down and lose them.

Initially Leanne aimed at sending 100 packages to the Horton and Ramsay Centre staff.   She promoted the idea on the village’s Facebook page and the response from within the village was so good she is now hoping to get to 200.

Leanne said: “Our village is fantastic.   Our local pub, the Butchers Arms, has put an order in for a large number of retractable pens for the nurses.”

Anyone who would like to donate some items to Leanne’s thank-you parcels can send her a message via the news team at Banbury FM.   Please email news@banburyfm.com and we will pass your message on.
