Market organisers have pulled the plug as strong winds continue in North Oxfordshire

The threat of continuing high winds in North Oxfordshire has forced the organisers of Banbury Market to pull the plug on Thursday’s market (March 11).   They say the safety of traders and customers has to be their priority.

A statement says: “We’re really sorry to say that we will be cancelling Thursdays (11th) Market due to the high winds forecast.

“A yellow warning has been issued by the Met Office for high winds throughout Thursday and as a result we won’t be able to safely set up the market stalls.”

Winds with gusts up to 56 miles per hour are predicted for the early hours of Thursday morning on what will be a generally wet day.   Organisers say the market will return with the essential traders on Saturday, weather permitting.
