Town Council show support for World Kidney Day
Yellow floodlights will illuminate Banbury Town Hall tonight to show support for World Kidney Day.
Chronic kidney disease affects one in ten adults and impacts severely on their lives by reducing their ability to take part in everyday activities including work, travel and social events.
This year World Kidney Day will raise awareness of the increasing burden of kidney diseases and strive to achieve kidney health for everyone, everywhere.
The World Kidney Day steering committee has declared 2021 the year of “Living Well with Kidney Disease”.
The committee said that measures to prevent kidney disease were important but patients – including those who depend on dialysis and transplants – and their families should feel supported, especially during pandemics and other challenging periods.
Cllr Kieron Mallon, leader of Banbury Town Council, said: “This is something that the council is pleased to support.”
