Rugby returns to Bodicote Park tonight

Training sessions resume as the rugby club looks forward to getting active again

The first small steps on the road back to rugby at Bodicote Park start tonight as the Banbury Rugby Club’s Senior Mens’ and Saxons Touch Rugby teams return to training.   This will be the first in-person sessions the club has been able to run for a number of months.

The ladies team, The Banbury Belles, and the Academy Colts will both meet on Thursday evening.   Sunday will see the resumption of training for all age groups.

The return to rugby comes as the latest easing of lockdown rules includes allowing some outdoor sports to restart.

The Club is asking all vehicles to enter the field via the blue gate by Bannatynes and exit via the gate by the clubhouse.   They will have a number of COVID precautionary measures in place including sanitizing stations, a symptom checker and track and trace and updated pitch maps.

Club members are now eagerly anticipating the chance to return to playing rugby matches.    Subject to government and RFU guidelines, during May they are hoping a number of inter-club games can be played.

Banbury Rugby Club says it will be introducing Walking Rugby to Bodicote Park in the coming months.   They are also holding a rugby camp for boys and girls during the Easter holidays.

Full details of the return to rugby at Bodicote Park can be found on the Banbury Rugby Club website.
