Councillor Shaida Hussain hopes to walk or run 20,000 steps for 30 consecutive days

Banbury’s Town Mayor is putting her best foot forward – 20,000 times every day for the next month as she raises money for her two mayoral charities.

Councillor Shaida Hussain has set herself a challenge to walk or run 20,000 steps every day for 30 consecutive days.   She began her mission yesterday (January 13) completing 20,397 steps on the first day.

Councillor Hussain said: “I wanted to give myself a challenge, especially since COVID curtailed other fundraising options.”

The Katharine House Hospice and Oxfordshire Sands (the stillbirth and neonatal death charity) are set to benefit from the challenge, with Councillor Hussain inviting people to make a donation to her dedicated JustGiving page.

She added: “I would like to raise as much money as possible for two organisations who do so much for the people of Banbury and surrounding areas.”
