Colourful pavement markings coming to guide walkers

Work to install a trail of coloured shapes accompanied by a range of family-friendly activities is getting underway

Very soon you will have notice pavement markings appearing around parts of Banbury.   They form part of a series of new health walks.

The new designs are being installed by Cherwell District Council’s healthy place shaping team and the idea is that they help us to become more active and explore our local area on foot.

People will be able to follow a trail of coloured shapes, marked on pathways and signposts, accompanied by a range of family-friendly activities to do on the way.

Consultation work has been taking place this summer with community groups, organisations and local people to finalise the routes in Grimsbury, Ruscote, Bretch Hill and Neithrop.

Groundwork is due to begin imminently and chalk marks on the paths are currently being used to highlight where the permanent markings will go.

The new designs have been financed through the government’s Contain Outbreak Management Fund, which supports local communities recovering from the COVID pandemic by encouraging more outdoor activity and improving general wellbeing in a safe environment.
