Contractor going under causes delay to physical return to school

It had been hoped a new contractor would be finished in time for the new term

The start of the new school term at BGN in Banbury hasn’t gone as planned, with just a handful of students having returned to their classrooms.   A delay in building and refurbishment works after a contractor went into administration left the school with no option but to provide remote learning for most youngsters.

Parents were aware of a potential problem when Headteacher Niamh Dolan wrote to them advising of the situation before the Bank Holiday weekend.   However, it had been hoped a new contractor would have made enough progress to allow students back on site when the campus was scheduled to reopen yesterday (September 6).

Some parts of the school are not affected and so the new intake of year 7 students have made a start at their new school.   Year 12 students attended school for one day yesterday.

Other year groups are using a Virtual Learning Environment until next Tuesday.
