A driver is facing disqualification and a hefty fine after being stopped by police officers on patrol in Banbury on Wednesday night.   His high-performance hatchback initially tried to get away from the pursuing police car.

When the vehicle did stop It became apparent to officers from the smell in the car as to why the occupants might have wanted to evade them.  The driver was arrested for driving whilst unfit through drugs.    He has since been released under investigation pending the results of his blood analysis.

Writing on social media Thames Valley Police said: “Did you know, you’re two times more likely to be involved in a serious injury or fatal collision when driving under the influence of Cannabis and sixteen times more likely when combined with alcohol? #ItsNotWorthTheRisk”
