Our local Hospice in Adderbury was opened back in 1991

The team at the Katharine House Hospice have celebrated their 30th birthday.   The Hospice, on the Aynho Road in Adderbury, was opened by HRH Diana, The Princess of Wales in October 1991.

Some of the current team posed for a picture outside their building and raised a glass to the staff, volunteers and the local community for their ongoing support.

Katharine House Hospice was set up by Neil Gadsby MBE and his wife Heather as a living memorial to their daughter who died in 1984 aged just 20.

The hospice building was approved for planning in September 1987 and opened four years later.

Earlier this year the Hospice formed a new partnership with the Oxford University Hospital’s Trust (OUH) which saw clinical services move under their control.

The fund-raising team continue to run a large number of events to fund the Hospice’s vital work.

Most recently they have announced that £9,000 was raised through a number of Open Garden events around the area this year.   Villagers in Hook Norton, Culworth, Chadlington, Middleton Cheney, Hornton, Churchill, Adderbury and South Newington all allowed the public to tour their gardens, in aid of the Hospice.

Community Engagement Manager for Katharine House, Cherida Plumb, said: “To everyone who opened up their gardens for us to enjoy, to the dedicated gardeners who created some wonderful outdoor spaces and to the visitors who came to support the events and donate to Katharine House – a massive thank you to you all!”
