Networking meeting, with Lock 29 update planned for July 21

Members of the Banbury Chamber of Commerce are set to meet in person for the first time in over a year.   The Lock 29 team at Castle Quay will be hosting a networking meeting for Chamber members on July 21.

Banbury’s Chamber of Commerce sits at the heart of the local business community and has continued to meet during the pandemic, but predominantly virtually.   Online events have included question and answer sessions on topics such as post-Brexit arrangements and advice from a panel on the support that has been available to businesses.

Other online meetings included “in conversation with” sessions, covering topics such as adjusting a business to the conditions and an update on the repurposing of Banbury town centre.

As lockdown rules are eased Chamber members are now set to hold a face-to-face get-together on Banbury’s waterfront.   Neil Wild is the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and feels the move back to in-person meetings is an important step.

Mr Wild said “Over the last few years the Chamber has met twice a month normally.   We’ve had tours around different businesses, informative and networking events.   Chamber members really value an hour or so in their week meeting with other [business] people and its been difficult to do that in the same way.   Members have been telling me they are very keen to meet together.”

The event on the waterfront outside Lock 29 will include an update on the changes taking place in the centre of the town.   Lock 29 will be providing food for Chamber members.

Mr Wild said: “Banbury town centre is a key interest for many people – how the town is adapting and changing to how we all do business.  Towns are more than just retail, they provide social spaces, function spaces and public spaces.

“Exciting changes are taking place in our town centre.   We’ll be able to meet at Lock 29 alongside the new cinema which opens next February, the hotel which opens in July and the waterfront with its bars and restaurants.

“We’re going to hear a bit more from Lock 29 about the changes they’re making and their exciting plans for the coming months, and it’ll be an opportunity for Chamber members to meet and catch-up with one-another.”

Numbers are limited for what is expected to be a popular event.   Anyone wishing to attend is encouraged to book whilst places are still available.   More details are available here.
