Council have acted after facility at Castle Quay was forced to close

Following yesterday’s news that the COVID-testing centre at Castle Quay had been forced to close, Cherwell District Council have arranged for a local Mobile Testing Unit to return to their HQ.   The facility is now up and running at Bodicote House.

The testing centre at the Shopping Centre in town has been forced to shut whilst “internal health and safety remediation works” are carried out.   For people needing to book a COVID test the closest options were a walk-in visit at Chaucer Way Car Park in Daventry, the drive through facility at Oxford Parkway Park and Ride in Oxford or a home testing kit.

From today anyone needing a PCR test has the option of visiting the Mobile Testing Unit at Bodicote House. Appointments are available seven days a week.

A spokesperson for the Council said: “We have worked with the national testing system to put this in place while essential works are carried out at the testing centre on Bridge Street in Banbury, keeping it easy for residents to access a local testing facility when they have COVID-19 symptoms, need to confirm a positive lateral flow test, or have had a contact with a positive case.”

Anyone needing a test, or wishing to have a testing kit delivered to them, can arrange this here.
