A choice of two different routes and a chance to visit the focus of fund-raising efforts form part of the return of the Katharine House Hospice’s Not The Midnight Walk this year.

The popular fund raiser was cancelled last summer, but returns this July with brand new routes and a daytime start.   Walkers will get the chance to remember someone as, for the first time ever, the routes will include a visit to the hospice itself, giving them the chance to leave a special memorial in celebration of a loved one.

The choice of a 6 or 10 mile Town or Country route will incorporate a host of local landmarks and beautiful scenery.

The event starts out from Banbury Rugby Club but for those who can’t make it in person the Hospice will be running a virtual event simultaneously.

This year’s theme is glamour and sparkle with walkers encouraged to ditch their loungewear and get their glad rags on – paired with suitable walking shoes!

Every penny raised goes towards running the hospice’s services, which provide vital care and support to people living with life-limiting conditions, as well as their families.

Event organiser Helen Lerwell said: “We are so excited to be back! Last year, the Midnight Walk had to turn into a virtual event because of the pandemic, so it will be lovely to see everyone out enjoying themselves.”

“Come and join us for a free glass of fizz on your return (or a special treat for our younger walkers) and then relax with a celebratory picnic at the Rugby Club. It’s going to be a wonderful party atmosphere before and after the walk – with enough space to ensure all our supporters remain safe while they have fun.”

Not The Midnight Walk starts at 2pm on Saturday 17 July, operating in accordance with the latest government COVID guidelines.   Full details are available here.
