Highlands to be resurfaced

Overnight works to be completed in September on key Hardwick road
One of the main routes across the Hardwick estate is due to be resurfaced during September. Work on Highlands will be undertaken over seven nights and will see the road surface replaced between the Longelandes Way mini roundabout and Sussex Drive, passing St Francis’ Church, Forgeway, Harlequin Way, Ferriston, Rosedale Avenue and Hereford Drive.
The works will start on Friday 18th September and should be completed by Saturday 26th September, subject to any bad weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances during construction.
Oxfordshire County Council is organising the resurfacing work and hope to avoid disruption to daytime traffic by completing the project overnight. Jason Russell, Interim Director Community Operations, said, “The works will be carried out under a series of overnight full road closures from 2000-0600 hours. Highlands will be re-opened outside of these hours and no works will be carried out over the weekend of 19th/20th September. Works will complete on Saturday 26th with all speed cushions being reinstated during this last shift. A fully signed diversion route will be put in place for the scheme duration”.
Elements of the project include ironwork adjustments, resurfacing of the existing carriageway, reinstatement of all existing speed cushions and the repainting of road markings and lines.
Residents living on or near to Highlands can expect to hear noise as the resurfacing works pass closest to their houses. However the Council believes the noisiest parts of the work will be completed by 11pm each night.
Jason Russell said, “We will endeavour to maintain access to those properties affected by the works. However, there may be occasions when this is not possible, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Please speak to the contractors on site for possible day to day changes in access arrangements”.
