White Post Road plays host to two finals matches which could see Banbury Cricket Club one of the victors

Today is cricket finals day in Oxfordshire with Banbury Cricket Club in Bodicote playing host to all the action.   Banbury CC are one of the four teams who could claim a trophy this afternoon.

Two games will be played at the White Post Road ground starting with Witney Mills CC facing Thame Town CC in the Wilf Bennett Final.   The match starts at 10.30am.

After lunch Banbury CC will play Oxford Downs CC in the Bernard Tollett Final.   That is scheduled to begin at 2.30pm.

In what has been a disrupted season because of the pandemic, Banbury reached the final by topping Pool 1 overcoming Bicester & North Oxford, Sandford St Martin and Great & Little Tew.  They beat Horspath in a tight semi-final, eventually winning in the penultimate over by 7 wickets.

Banbury face Oxford Downs who were the winners in Pool 3 and beat Oxford in their semi-final.

Banbury Cricket Club say spectators are welcome for both games and suggest those wanting to watch just the afternoon match arrive at 1.30pm to minimise congestion.   The Club are also asking everyone attending today to read all the COCID-19 precautionary measures on their website.   These include social distancing, following the “rule of 6” and asking spectators to keep an eye on the ball, but not to pick it up if it goes over the boundary rope.
