Victoria Prentis says thank you for the brilliant work the Mosque does all year round
Banbury’s MP Victoria Prentis has visited Banbury Mosque to thank the volunteers at Banbury Community Fridge and to catch up with community members who have recently returned to the Mosque following the coronavirus lockdown.
The Community Fridge was awarded one of Mrs Prentis’ Unsung Hero awards after receiving a number of nominations. The scheme was designed to reduce food waste and help those in need. During the visit last Friday Mrs Prentis saw the Fridge in action and thanked the volunteers. She said, “I was really pleased that I could visit the Mosque and thank all the volunteers in person for all their hard work over the past few months.
“Supporting the local community during this very challenging time, and continuing to do so despite an easing of some restrictions, highlights the brilliant work the Mosque does all year round”.
Mrs Prentis spoke to members of the community who had returned to the Mosque following the easing of lockdown restrictions. She was shown how the Mosque has adapted following coronavirus restrictions with track and trace barcodes for members to scan and separate entrances and exits for social distancing so members could worship safely
During the visit members concerns were raised, many of which focused on the ongoing situation in Kashmir.
