Charity says please don’t drop off donations during lockdown
05/11/2020
Anyone leaving items outside building could be seen as a fly tipper
As the country heads into a new lockdown period, there’s a warning from one local charity that an otherwise generous donation could potentially result in a fine for fly tipping.
The Salvation Army Donation Centre on Swann Close has asked people not to drop off any donations during the lockdown period as they won’t be there. They warn that leaving items outside the shop could be classed as fly tipping and may result in Health and Safety Issues.
A message posted on Facebook said: “Please DO NOT DROP OFF DONATIONS DURING LOCKDOWN! This is classed as fly tipping and causes a Health and Safety issue. Also we won’t be there to accept your donations! Thank you and take care”.
The Salvation Army Donation Centre will be closed until the end of lockdown in December.
