Developer to inspect Hart Close play area today
09/08/2022
Persimmon Homes say the area will be assessed to see what work is required
A run-down and overgrown Banbury play area is set to be inspected with a view to ensuring it is suitable for use by local families. The developer responsible for the area on Banbury’s Hanwell Fields Estate says that inspection will happen today.
On Monday we told you that the poor state of the space for local children on Hart Close had led Labour Councillor Andrew Crichton to complain to Persimmon Homes. The area has become overgrown, with thorny brambles across the entrance gate and play equipment missing.
The area remains the responsibility of Persimmon as its ownership has never been transferred to Banbury Town Council. This is because Cherwell District Council (as the planning authority) hasn’t been satisfied that the area has passed all of the requirements of the planning agreement.
Persimmon Homes were granted planning permission to build Hart Close back in 2002.
In a statement to Banbury FM they said: “We would like to thank Councillor Crichton for bringing this matter to our attention. We have organised a site visit for today where an inspection will be carried out to assess the work that is required to ensure the playground is suitable for use by local families.”
