Welcome back Fairport!

Finally – the fields of Cropredy come alive with music again
The gates are open and the festival is underway!
After a two-year break Fairport’s Cropredy Convention is up and running, with the first campers heading onto the site at 7 o’clock this morning.
Thousands of people will make the sun-soaked farm fields around Cropredy their home for the next few days, bringing much needed income to local businesses and good causes.
Known as the friendly festival, today’s line-up includes The Trevor Horn Band, with the man behind the Buggles and the sound of Frankie Goes To Hollywood appearing on the main stage. Irish band Clannad are also part of today’s line-up with hosts Fairport Convention performing an acoustic set.
Organisers are reminding all visitors that due to the extremely dry ground conditions they want to operate a “no flame” policy this year. The advice is that rather than cooking, people should utilise the food vendors on site, or the many opportunities to eat in Cropredy.
In the village itself the Cropredy Fringe continues at the Brasenose Arms. The pub offers live music in the garden throughout festival week, with five live sets lined up today and already underway.
Cropredy Football Club are joining in as usual, offering festival goers the opportunity to take a shower, and use their bar through the festival. Car booters can also make use of the influx of visitors with pitches available for a Saturday boot sale.
