Saturday disruption to Banbury’s trains
12/08/2022
Industrial action will affect all Cross Country services
Rail users are being asked to allow a lot of extra time if they are planning on using a train tomorrow – or find an alternative method of transport.
Industrial action by the RMT, Aslef and the TSSA unions will affect all the usual Cross Country services running through Banbury, with the operator saying they won’t have any trains running.
Chiltern Railways services will still be running as normal but are expected to be very busy.
Cross Country trains operate between Manchester Piccadilly and Bournemouth, making southbound stops in Oxford and Reading after leaving Banbury.
A direct train journey between Banbury and Oxford would usually take around 20 minutes on a Cross Country train. The same journey will still be possible using Chiltern Railways services, but will take substantially longer and involve travelling via Princes Risborough, where a change of trains will be required.
Direct journeys to Leamington Spa will still be possible using Chiltern Railways services.
Further strike action is planned for Thursday 18 and Saturday 20 August.
