Banbury’s MP supports Small Business Saturday
05/12/2020
“I hope everyone supports our small businesses by shopping locally this Christmas”
Today is the eighth annual Small Business Saturday. Across the country people are being encouraged to head out and support their local traders, in what has been a difficult year for many.
Banbury’s MP Victoria Prentis is encouraging us all to take the idea of Small Business Saturday seriously this year and shop locally.
Mrs Prentis visited independent businesses in Banbury and Bicester to show her support and speak to business owners following the reopening of their shops after lockdown. Sheila’s Sweets in Parson’s Street, Nothing But Footprints in the Castle Quay Shopping Centre and Signature Flowers and Bicester Wools in Bicester were amongst the retailers where Mrs Prentis discussed the challenges small businesses have faced during the pandemic, the support available from the Government and the importance of shopping locally this Christmas.
Mrs Prentis said: “This year has been especially tough for our small businesses and I am really pleased to be able to celebrate their hard work with Small Business Saturday.
“It is brilliant that shops have been able to reopen after the second national lockdown and I am pleased to see so many people visiting them. I hope everyone supports our small businesses by shopping locally this Christmas.”
