Chenderit A level students exceed the challenging targets set

61% of all results were graded A*, A or B

A Level students at Chenderit School achieved an overall pass rate of 100% this year, with just under one-third being graded A* or A.   61% of all results were graded A*, A or B.

The school has congratulated all those who sat their exams.

Headteacher Jane Cartwright said: “Our students have shown remarkable resilience over the past two years and these students, who were unable to sit GCSEs in 2020, performed exceptionally well in this summer’s exams, which were the first external assessments they have been able to take.

“We are proud of all they have achieved and have been celebrating their achievements with them in school this morning – our students have performed brilliantly, in line with or better in virtually all measures when compared with last year and 2019”.

Amongst today’s happy students Lily Sear was told she had achieved 3 A*s and an A.   She will now head to the University of Cambridge to study Law.   Lily said: “I’m absolutely over the moon – I’m so happy with my results!”

Suzanna Teal also achieved 3 A*s and an A and is now moving on to study Photography at University of the Arts, London.  Suzanna said: “Although I only joined Chenderit at Sixth Form, I have had amazing opportunities over the last two years.”

Charlotte Bowman discovered she had achieved 3 A*s.   She will be heading to the University of Exeter to study English.   On opening her results Charlotte said: “I don’t know what to say – I’m so happy!”

Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form Billy Belstone was proud of the students.   He said: “Our students have exceeded the challenging targets we set and we are delighted that 89% of our students have gained entry to their first choice university, with over 25% of students having gained places at incredibly competitive institutions such as the University of Cambridge and other Russell Group universities.

“We wish our students success as they embark on their future plans”.

Other students with notable results included Charlie Blee, who achieved 2 A*s and an A and will now study Law with Politics at the University of Manchester and Lucy Frewin, who will study International Relations at the University of Edinburgh after achieving 2 A*s and 2 As.

Avril Boyd is heading to Warwick to study Biochemistry after achieving 2 A*s and an A and Joshua Dennett’s A* and 2 As mean he can study Earth and Planetary Sciences at the University of Manchester.   Joshua said: “I’m really impressed – I’ve done better than I thought I would.”

Sacha Harvey thanked the school’s staff after she achieved an A* and 2 As.  She said: “Thank you to all the great teachers for all their help and support over the past two years.”   Sacha will be studying Biology at the University of Bristol.
