Victoria Prentis visits Queensway Primary and presents a prize to her Christmas card competition winner
A ten year old from Queensway Primary School has won a competition to create the design that will feature on North Oxfordshire MP Victoria Prentis’ Christmas card. Nicholas Watts received his prize from Mrs Prentis on Friday afternoon (4th December).
Nicholas’ design featured a donkey and baby Jesus in the stable. The image will be used on the front of the card Mrs Prentis’ will be sending out this year.
After presenting Nicholas with his prize, Mrs Prentis said: “Congratulations to Nicholas for winning my Christmas card competition. His design was truly fantastic. A big well done to my runner ups, Emily from Bure Park Primary School, and Nathalie and Felicity from St John’s R.C. Primary School.”
Whilst at the school Mrs Prentis met pupils in year six and answered questions about her life as an MP. She asked the youngsters how they had found school this year during the pandemic and discovered their plans for Christmas.
Mrs Prentis said: “It was great to catch up with the Year Six’s. I was particularly impressed to learn that teachers at Queensway are trialling online learning, so if another lockdown occurs and schools have to close, lessons can be live streamed from home.
“This again highlights the tireless work of schoolteachers throughout the pandemic, to ensure that school students stay on top of their studies and learning.”
