A very special atmosphere

Organisers reflect on the return of the Cropredy festival
“It really was a very special atmosphere after such a long wait” – that’s how the organisers of the Fairport Cropredy Festival feel after this year’s event.
They added: “All the bands were blown away by the reaction from you, the Cropredy crowd.”
Just a week after the festival concluded the fields are now almost ready to be handed back to the livestock, for whom they are home for the rest of the year.
The 2022 festival was probably the hottest on record, but festival goers adhered to the special rules that were needed to keep the tinder dry fields safe.
The contingent from Thames Valley Police who had attended the event were full of praise for the festival, and those who attended. They said: “What a fantastic event the Fairport Cropredy Convention has been to police.
“A huge thank you to Fairport’s Cropredy Convention and MJ Events for making us feel so welcome.
“To the people of Cropredy – it has been an absolute pleasure to see the amazing effort you all make for this event, including the ‘fringe’ events in the village itself. Community spirit at it’s finest.”
The dates for next year’s event have already been set with Cropredy’s fields once again due to be filled with music from August 10 to 12. Tickets are likely to go on sale in December.
In appreciation of those that attended this year’s festival the organisers said: “Thank you all so much for coming to Cropredy, especially after such a long wait.
“One of the things that kept us going through the pandemic was knowing that so many of you had held on to your tickets and had faith that we’d be back.”
