25/08/2022
Three-quarters of students achieved a standard pass in both English and Maths
At Chenderit School in Middleton Cheney hard work and commitment to learning have been recognised and rewarded in today’s GCSE results.
Many students met or exceeded their targets.
Three-quarters of students achieved a standard pass in both English and Maths. That includes 85% achieving a standard pass in English and 77% achieving a standard pass in maths.
A standard pass in two science subjects was achieved in 74% of cases.
Chenderit says that overall students have performed better than in both 2021 and the last time formal exams were sat in 2019.
One student receiving her results today was Mimi Guinness who achieved 6 grade 9s, 3 8s and 1 grade 7. She was delighted: “Thank you to all of my teachers. They made me realise my potential.”
Annabelle Dascalescu also wanted to thank her teachers: “I really appreciated the staff for encouraging me and not pressurising me. I achieved 5 9s, 4 8s and 1 7. We’re celebrating today with lunch and crazy golf.”
Emily Campion achieved 2 9s, 5 8s ad 2 7s. She said: “Thank you to all of the staff for always helping me whenever I needed it. I was given extra work to stretch and challenge me and to help me secure the highest grades.”
Will Edwards was surprised with his results: “I’m feeling great. I was quite indifferent to my GCSEs. I’m so thankful to the Chenderit staff. I can’t wait to start sixth form.”
Headteacher, Jane Cartwright said: “Even though our students have experienced a great deal of disruption over the past two years, they have shown remarkable resilience and have achieved brilliant grades which will now enable them to go on to their destinations of choice, with the majority of our students opting to stay at our thriving sixth form.
“Whatever our students choose to do next, we wish them success.
“I would also like to commend our staff for all they have contributed during the various challenges of the past couple of years and our parents for their unwavering support but most of all I would like to congratulate each and every one of our year 11 students and wish them well for the future.”
