Overturned HGV causing delays around the M40 at junction 10
14/09/2022
Drivers should plan another route or delay their journey
An overturned lorry and a large spillage of fuel has been causing problems for drivers exiting the southbound M40 at Ardley, and those on the northbound A43 from the motorway.
The heavy goods vehicle tipped over as it made its way from the M40 exit road onto the A43 on Tuesday evening. Thames Valley Police first reported the problem shortly after 10pm. They put in place a road closure from the motorway services as far as the Baynards Green roundabout on the Brackley bound carriageway. The southbound motorway exit slip was also coned off.
A large amount of fuel was spilt across the road, which led to a need for resurfacing work. National Highways reported their service providers as being on the scene earlier this morning, with work underway.
Its believed the M40 south exit at junction 10 and the northbound A43 from there, to the Baynards Green roundabout, is likely to remain closed into this afternoon. A local diversion is in place.
National Highways said: “If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.”
