Simon says sit down – again and again
11/10/2022
“I’ve just about stopped walking around looking like the tin man!”
A couple of weeks ago Middleton Cheney man Simon Osborn began a challenge to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society and Dementia UK, through the Aston Villa Foundation, by sitting on every seat at Aston Villa’s stadium. He aimed to complete the sitathon in a 24 hour period.
Forty-two-year-old Simon started his challenge as planned with over 42,000 seats ahead of him, but midway through his mission a security problem meant he had to leave the stadium.
Never one to give up, Simon arranged to have a second go at the challenge after a couple of days rest.
On the second attempt he did manage to sit on every one of the 42,785 seats, although it took slightly longer time than he had hoped. He arrived at the final seat in 35-and-a-half hours.
The challenge has so far raised £1,500.
Simon said: “The support I have received has been amazing. I’ve just about stopped walking around looking like the tin man now!”
Simon’s fund raising page is still live here.
