The 88-year-old man who’s body was discovered at an assisted living complex in Banbury on Monday night has been named as Barrie Davenport. Mr Davenport was formally identified yesterday (Friday).
Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit began a murder investigation after the force received a report of the death of an elderly man at the complex on School Lane, off the Southam Road.
A Home Office post-mortem took place on Wednesday, but the cause of death currently remains a mystery, pending further investigation.
Mr Davenport’s next of kin are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.
A 53-year-old woman from Northamptonshire, who was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of murder, has been released on police bail.
