The victim and his van were both struck during the attack
A man has been attacked in the Wickes car park on the Southam Road in Banbury by a person with a baton. The assault took place between 10am and 10.30am on Thursday November 3.
The victim, who is a man in his thirties, was approached by the offender whilst he was in his van. The offender used the baton to strike the windscreen of the van and also struck the victim inside the van.
The victim sustained an injury to his back but did not require hospital treatment.
Following the incident a 39-year-old man from Banbury was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon. He has been released on bail.
Investigating officer, PC Liam Silcock, based at Banbury police station, said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to please come forward.
“Anyone with information can contact police by calling 101 or making a report online, quoting reference 43220495139.
“Further if you have mobile or dash-cam footage of the incident, you can submit this via our online portal.
“Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via its website.”
