Praise for club after medical incident at football game
21/11/2022
“Well done BUFC for paying for this facility which is worth every penny”
Banbury United’s first aid contingency plans have been praised after a supporter was taken ill at Saturday’s FA Trophy game.
The club’s Sports Therapist Lindsay Davis was first on the scene when the medical incident occurred, together with his counterpart from Stowmarket Town. They were quickly joined by the on-site paramedics from Acute Ambulance and Medical Services and the club’s own first aiders.
The supporter was taken to the Horton General Hospital where he is making a recovery.
In thanking those who helped a spokesperson for Banbury United said: “It was a great team effort by everyone – non league football at it best – and a reminder too that we should never take the services of the Horton General Hospital for granted. It is a vital part of our community.”
After witnessing the incident Banbury United supporter Tom Jordan said: “The onsite paramedics were the real heroes … It was a massive relief to have the paramedics on site and on the scene within seconds.
“[I’m] glad to report the gentleman was taken to the Horton and is on the mend. Well done BUFC for paying for this facility which is worth every penny.”
Banbury United went to win the game 6-0.
