Local poppy appeal raises £57,500
24/11/2022
Appeal organiser Chris Smithson has thanked his volunteer collectors and the public
This year’s local Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal collected around £57,500 during the two weeks of the appeal. That amount is set to rise as money is still arriving.
The funds came in thanks to the hard work of distributors on 17 poppy rounds, those that collected at the supermarkets, and the people who sold poppies in the town centre.
Local appeal organiser Chris Smithson described the result as great teamwork. He said: “I would like to thank my small team of Poppy volunteers, that helped with this year’s Poppy Appeal.
“Special thanks must go to the general public for their generous donations.”
