The Canadian driver Stroll was ruled out of this week’s three-day running after a road bike accident in Spain
Aston Martin reserve driver Felipe Drugovich will fill the injured Lance Stroll’s cockpit for the first day of Formula One’s sole winter test.
Canadian driver Stroll was ruled out of this week’s three-day running after a road bike accident in Spain.
Aston Martin are hopeful the 24-year-old, son of the team’s billionaire owner Lawrence Stroll, will be fit for the opening race of the season, also in Bahrain, a week on Sunday.
Brazilian Drugovich, 22, who last year won the Formula Two championship, will replace Stroll on Thursday morning, with double world champion Fernando Alonso, new to Aston Martin following his transfer from Alpine, taking over after the lunch break.
Aston Martin said a schedule for the remaining two days of the test will be confirmed.
An statement from the team read: “Felipe Drugovich will attend the Bahrain test to share driving duties with Fernando Alonso.
“Felipe is scheduled to drive the AMR23 on Thursday morning with Fernando Alonso taking over in the afternoon. Schedule for Friday and Saturday to be confirmed.”
