Two Thames Valley Police officers have received awards for their investigation into a Banbury case involving rape and false imprisonment. Chief Constable John Campbell made the presentation yesterday to Detective Sergeant Mark Personius and Detective Constable Mandy Rhymes at a ceremony at the force’s base in Sulhamstead, Berkshire.
They were commended for their diligent investigation and victim service during Operation Jasid. Their work resulted in multiple offenders being brought to justice for numerous traumatic violence against women and girls offences.
Operation Jasid was launched after multiple men raped, assaulted and tortured a woman who had been falsely imprisoned in a flat in June 2021.
Following a complex investigation, three men and a woman were sentenced to a total of 35 years in prison after being convicted of a combined 13 charges at Oxford Crown Court last year.
DC Rhymes said: “I am very proud to be receiving this award in recognition of the work and support put in by the whole investigation team.
DS Personius added: “This was a serious and complex investigation that involved a large number of colleagues who worked tirelessly on this case that ultimately lead to a successful conclusion at court.”
A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “DS Personius’ and DC Rhymes’ contributions are exceptional examples of supporting the force’s values and policing principles throughout the investigation and trial process. They are credits to Thames Valley Police.”
