A man has been charged with a child sexual offence in the Banbury area.

52-year-old Bashiru Umar, of no fixed abode, was charged with one count of indecent assault against a child under 16 on Monday (April 3). The charge is in connection with incidents which occurred between 2001 and 2003.

Umar appeared at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court yesterday and has been remanded in custody to appear at Aylesbury Crown Court on May 2.
