Police discover 351 immature plants and 150 sacks of compost to grow them in

Police in Brackley have discovered a cannabis factory being built in one of the town’s industrial units.   Acting on concerns from members of the public, neighbourhood officers visited the unit on the southern side of town, in Barrington Court, on Thursday.

Inside they found 351 immature cannabis plants together with the means to continue farming them, including over 150 sacks of compost.

The premises appeared to have been vacated in a hurry with hundreds of pounds worth of food products also left behind – enough to sustain working and living in the unit for a period of time.

Yesterday’s find followed the discovery of items to set up a cannabis farm in a van which had been stopped near Brackley on Easter Day (April 9).   The vehicle activated an ANPR camera and was pulled over into a layby.   The driver ran off and escaped, but left the vehicle full of items.

Police officers are asking for anyone who has any information in relation to the unit in Barrington Court to contact them on 101, quoting reference 23000221796.

They are also keen to receive information about vehicles seen visiting the unit, and in particular a silver older style Mercedes C class car and a white Peugeot Boxer van – registration AV13 AEX – which they have seized.

Brackley’s Neighbourhood Policing Team are happy to be contacted by landlords who are keen to protect their properties from this type of use. They have literature available to help support them.   They are also keen to receive information on other unusual activity at premises in the area so they can investigate.

Officers have donated the food left in the Barrington Court unit to Helping You Live and Brackley Food Bank and the compost to Brackley Town Council to support what they described as “the town’s legal vegetation growth!”.

They added: “If the owners of the items donated wish to receive a personal thank you then please get in touch and we can discuss your 351 plants at the same time.”
