Only 69 children weren’t able to be offered any of the schools their parents had selected
The large majority of children starting an Oxfordshire infant or primary school in September will be heading to their parents first choice school. A total of 93.55 per cent of applicants were placed at their main preference selection – some 6,729 youngsters.
The figure is higher than last year’s achievement of 91.49 per cent.
A further 391 children were offered one of the other school choices they listed on their application.
Only 69 of those heading to school or nursery in September weren’t able to be offered any of the schools their parents had selected.
Hayley Good, Oxfordshire County Council’s Deputy Director of Children’s Services (Education), said: “Our school admissions team has done an excellent job in ensuring that so many parents and children have been offered their first choice.
“I am grateful to the team for all its hard work. Our aim as a council is to give every child a good start in life and our school admissions team play an essential part in that year in, year out.”
