22/07/2023
With more than 1.2million Instagram followers Finn Tapp will utilise his experiences to mentor younger players
Former Oxford City and MK Dons player and 2020 Love Island winner Finn Tapp has joined Banbury United. The 23-year-old defender previously worked with Banbury Manager Mark Jones at Oxford City – the club where he played when he entered the 2020 series on the TV show, which he went on to win with Paige Turley.
Tapp’s football career started at the age of eight when he joined the MK Dons academy. He signed a professional deal there in 2018.
A year later he joined Oxford city. Whilst there it was announced that Tapp would join the sixth series of Love Island, located in Cape Town, South Africa. The public voted him and fellow participant Paige Turley the show’s winning couple.
After the show they moved in and spent lockdown together, but Paige Turley revealed early this month they had split up.
Tapp will bring with him to Station Approach more than 1.2million followers on Instagram.
He is utilising his experiences to mentor young players who find themselves thrown into the deep end of senior teams after excelling in the youth set-up.
On joining Banbury United he said: “[I’m] Buzzing to have signed for Banbury Utd! Couldn’t be happier to finally get back to doing something I love doing.
“It’s been a long time coming to get the boots back on but I’m so pleased I did. It’s been a tough couple of months putting my head down and working hard to get myself back fit, but I’m feeling good and looking forward to the season getting underway.”
