In its 25th anniversary year the grant will be used to build on the centre’s current services

A local community centre has received a big financial boost thanks to a grant of over £300,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund.   The Sunshine Centre was created to be home to a range of family and childcare activities and support services for the community in Bretch Hill.

Children and families remain the focus of the Sunshine Centre’s work, but multi-generational work and providing support to everyone is also important to them.   Today’s lottery grant of £301,918 will enable the centre to build on its current services.

Jill Edge is the Centre Manager.   She said: “This grant is amazing news for the community, staff, Trustees and partners.   It gives us security going forward and we will of course continue to fund raise to secure other areas of our work.

“I cannot express my gratitude enough to all those who support us and work with us to make The Sunshine Centre what it is today.”

The Sunshine Centre first opened its doors in 1997 and a celebration of its twenty-fifth anniversary is planned for October.
