Town centre Memory Garden bed offers a space to remember loved ones
09/08/2023
A rose was planted to mark the opening in the Bridge Street Community Garden
A special area where people can remember their loved ones has been opened at the Bridge Street Community Garden. The new Memory Garden bed was officially opened last Thursday.
Banbury’s MP Victoria Prentis and Age UK Oxfordshire’s CEO Penny Thewlis planted a rose to mark the occasion.
Guests were then invited to sew wildflower seeds and leave messages in memory of a loved one.
Mrs Prentis said: “Nestled in the heart of Banbury, this wonderful space has been dedicated as a special place where people can meet and remember loved ones.
“It was great to see so many at the garden including those who have attended Age UK’s bereavement support service groups and walks. I was honoured to be invited to plant a rose alongside the charity’s Chief Executive Officer, Penny Thewlis, marking the official opening of their new bed space.
“I would recommend that local residents make a visit.”
