Its here! Its showtime again at The Mill

Its curtain up tonight for a show that is gorgeously ravishing, deliciously risqué and just a little bit ridiculous

A real audience and live performers return to the Mill Arts Centre tonight for the first show since lockdown.   The lucky audience members enjoying the first in-person performance in months are promised a “gorgeously ravishing, deliciously risqué and just a little bit ridiculous, travelling vaudeville show” – Hundred Watt Club.

“Oh my gosh its so exciting,” says Lena Lenman from Hundred Watt Club.   “Not only is it the first show at The Mill its our first show of the entire year, so it’s a kind of double whammy.

“People have just been champing at the bit to come out and see entertainment and live shows.   We’ve been getting more excited as the week goes on.”

Like many performers, the members of Hundred Watt Club suddenly found themselves out of work when venues were forced to close.   Virtual shows were a temporary solution but performers missed the audience being there with them.   Lena said: “It was a really nice way to be interactive with audiences and still be creative and do our jobs, but it missed out on that ‘proper’ interaction – hearing audiences respond, cheer and clap, and see them have a lovely time.”

Tonight’s show will bring a glittering, sizzling line-up of burlesque showgirls, comedy, circus and cabaret acts to The Mill.   It’s a first visit for Hundred Watt Club.

“Expect the unexpected”, said Lena.   “People who haven’t been to a burlesque show expect a line of high kicking beauties in matching outfits. Whilst we do bring them its not just that.   We bring acts that are silly and funny.   We bring acts that will excite and challenge you.   It’s a kind of multi-faceted show.”

Whilst cabaret shows are known for being interactive and making use of audience members, that element will be curtailed due to COVID rules.   The Mill Arts Centre are carefully seating audience members so social distancing can be maintained.

Lena said: “If you’re a little bit frightened about coming to a burlesque show because you might get picked on, well now’s your chance.   Come and find out how much you like it and then you won’t mind coming again!”

The show begins in the main auditorium at 7.30pm and is restricted to an 18+ audience.   More details and ticket information is available here.
