Six Banbury eateries have been listed as finalists at this year’s Food Awards England 2023.   The awards celebrate culinary excellence, innovation, and the outstanding achievements of the food industry’s brightest stars.

Pizza Calzone in Parson’s Street is nominated in two categories, being one of ten places across England making it to the shortlist for Pizza Restaurant of the Year.   They are also nominated alongside North Bar’s La Foglia in the Best Italian Establishment for the south area.

In the Café or Bistro of the Year category for the South East area, four out of the ten finalists come from Banbury.   Reg’s Café, the Old Town Cafe & Gallery, the Pavement Coffee Co and Koukouvagia are all nominated, alongside eateries from other towns such as Reading, London and Dover.

Hasan Tasyurdu from Pizza Calzone said: “We are immensely proud to be recognised as a shortlisted contender for the Food Awards England 2023.

“This nomination validates the tireless efforts and creativity of our chefs, front-of-house staff, and entire team, who work diligently to provide our guests with unparalleled culinary experiences.”

This year’s Food Awards England awards ceremony will take place at the Holiday Inn in Birmingham City Centre on 9th October.

A spokesperson for the awards said: “In a country with so many food establishments and businesses, it can be hard to stand out. However, the 2023 finalists have all been distinguished as the real masters in their field due to their hard work and dedication to customer satisfaction.

“Moreover, their success isn’t just about their dedication to leaving every customer satisfied. It’s also a story that reflects the resilience and creativity of countless chefs, producers, employees and managers who are always ensuring that locals and visitors eat well. We would like to wish all finalists the best of luck.”
