Witnesses sought after Saturday evening collision between Banbury and Broughton

A teenage cyclist has been seriously injured after being involved in a collision with a car on the B4035 between Banbury and Broughton on Saturday evening (June 5).   The boy who was riding the bicycle was taken to hospital with a head injury.

The incident happened on the Broughton Road at around 6.40pm just before the junction with the Banbury Road which heads towards North Newington.   The collision involved the cyclist and a grey Citroen C3.

The teenage boy sustained a head injury and was taken to hospital where he remains.

Thames Valley Police are asking for anyone who might have seen the incident to get in contact.

Investigating officer, PC Alex Norrish, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: “I am appealing for any witnesses to this incident to please come forward.

“I would also ask any motorists with dash-cams who were in the local area around 6.40pm yesterday to please check any footage in case it has captured something that could assist the investigation.

“Anyone with information can contact police by making a report online or calling 101, quoting reference 43210245029.

“Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.”

No one was arrested in relation to the collision.
